Learning coaches, also known as instructional coaches, have been working in Lawrence Public Schools for the past decade. However, many teachers may not have used their coach to their fullest capability. During this session, learn the philosophy behind coaching, what coaches do, how they work with teachers, and what coaches don't do. Coaches are in schools, behind the scenes to support, not evaluate, teachers during the Impact coaching cycle. The district model was created by Dr. Jim Knight at the University of Kansas Center for Research on Learning. The work that is done with teachers is confidential and impactful for teacher, coach, and students. If you have ever been curious as to what your coach does, now is the time to learn!
